The much vaunted Comrades Marathon road show comes to the Magic Province this weekend. Following in the footsteps of a series of successful road-running workshops across the country, the Comrades Marathon Association’s (CMA) marketing team will do its bit to get all aspirant Comrades participants from Durban and Richards Bay to take on The Ultimate Human Race next year and enjoy a mighty good run.
Over the years, these sought after information sessions and workshops have gone a long way in empowering runners with the necessary training and injury prevention tips that have seen them not just getting to the start but also completing the grueling race.
South Africa’s Playground hosts this weekend’s workshop. You will find the Comrades team at the Nedbank Head Office, at 90 Ordnance Road in Durban. This people-powered workshop will be held at 09h00 on Saturday, 8 October 2011.
The team then moves onto the port town of Richards Bay, where you will find them at 19h00 on Tuesday, 11 October 2011. The Canon Richards Bay Athletic Club will host the workshop at the Bayview Boulevard, Meerensee, next to Bayhall in Richards Bay.
CMA's Marketing Coordinator Thami Vilakazi recommends that all local runners who are aspiring to run the 89km ultra-marathon next year attend the workshop. Thami says: ‘The Official Comrades Coach, Lindsey Parry, and the team will be on hand to answer all questions regarding next year's race.’
Many runners have credited these workshops for their excellent performances on race day. Thami adds, ‘These runner-focused workshops are a rich source of first hand information. Both novice and veteran athletes have the opportunity to ask any race-related questions or enquire about training and injury prevention techniques.’
The 87th running of this amazing sporting fixture will be a down-run from Pietermaritzburg to Durban.
