Roadshow in Central Gauteng

The first workshop will be hosted by the Rocky Road Runners Club in Sandton at the Netcare Head Office Auditorium, cnr West and Maude Streets at 19h00 on Tuesday, 13 September 2011. The CMA roadshow team then moves onto Bedfordview, where the workshop will be hosted by the Bedfordview Country Club at the BCC Bowls Club, Bedfordview Virgin Active, cnr Harper and Van Buuren Roads on at 19h00 on Wednesday, 14 September 2011.

From there, the KHOSA Road Runners take up the baton to Krugersdorp, when they host the CMA workshop at the Stan Friedman Sports Ground, cnr Shannon and Frederick Cooper Drive at 19h00 on Thursday, 15 September 2011. The 87th running of this amazing sporting fixture will be a down-run from ‘The City of Choice’, that is Pietermaritzburg to ‘Africa’s Sporting Capital’, the coastal city of Durban.

CMA's Marketing Coordinator Thami Vilakazi says: 'Entries for the 2012 Comrades Marathon officially opened on the 1st of September 2011.  I would like to urge all runners to attend the Comrades Marathon information sessions in their area. The Official Comrades Coach, Lindsey Parry, and the team will be on hand to answer all questions regarding next year's race and to advise novices and experienced Comrades runners alike on how to build themselves up for peak performance.'

Many runners have credited these workshops for their excellent performances on race day. Thami adds, “These workshops are a rich source of first hand information. Runners have an opportunity to ask any race-related questions or enquire about training and injury prevention techniques, as the Comrades Coach is always on hand to respond to such queries.”

Anyone and everyone aspiring to run the 89km ultra-marathon next June, are urged to attend these workshops, which are free of charge. For information on the nationwide roadshow, please contact your local athletics club or visit the official Comrades website at www.comrades.com or call the CMA on 033 897 8650
