The heat is on for all aspirant Comrades participants in the 2012 edition of South Africa’s most formidable road running event and the Comrades Marathon Association (CMA) is doing its best to ensure that runners are adequately prepared for the challenge.
This will be achieved via a series of information sessions and workshops across the Rainbow Nation, in order to empower runners with the necessary training and injury prevention tips that will not only see them to the start but also take them through the finish line, come 3 June 2012.
The second Comrades workshop of the year will be hosted at 19h00 tomorrow night (Wednesday, 25 January 2012) by the Nedbank Running Club at the Laerskool Kollegepark, 77 Generaal Froneman Street in Vanderbijlpark in the Vaal Triangle.
The 87th running of this amazing sporting fixture will be a down-run from ‘The City of Choice’, that is Pietermaritzburg to ‘Africa’s Sporting Capital’, the coastal city of Durban.
CMA's Marketing Coordinator Thami Vilakazi says: 'These Comrades Marathon workshops are exciting and are presented with an element of innovation and up-to-date information. I would like to urge all runners to attend these hands-on sessions in their area as they will definitely benefit from them.’
Thami adds: ‘The Official Comrades Coach, Lindsey Parry, and the team will be on hand to answer all questions regarding next year's race and to advise novices and experienced Comrades runners alike on how to build themselves up for peak performance.'
Many runners have credited these workshops for their excellent performances on race day.
Anyone and everyone aspiring to run the 89km ultra-marathon next June, are urged to attend these workshops, which are free of charge.
