As the dust settles on the 2018 Comrades Marathon, the Comrades Marathon Association (CMA) Chairperson, Cheryl Winn has congratulated all athletes and issued a huge vote of thanks to all Comrades stakeholders for their contribution to the success of this year’s event.
Winn says, “Without the input and support of our sponsors, suppliers, service providers, partners, members of the media, medical personnel, route marshals, refreshment station helpers, local and provincial authorities, provincial and national sporting bodies, staff, organising committee and thousands of volunteers, we would never have been able to pull off an event of this magnitude.” Winn adds, “The Comrades Marathon Association extends its immense gratitude to all involved in the staging of the 93rd Ultimate Human Race as well as all build-up and post-race activities and events.”
The CMA’s major sponsors Bonitas and Old Mutual; as well as its supplier-sponsors, Caltex, Coca-Cola, Energade, Mizuno and Toyota have contributed immensely to the success of our race. Our media partners, more specifically SABC Sport maintained their 13-hour live television broadcast and all other media partners added value to the Comrades Marathon coverage and exposure on all platforms.
Winn has also extended the CMA’s gratitude to Arnica Ice, AVIS-Budget, BDO, Biddulphs, Coca-Cola, East Rand Plastics, Form-Scaff, Hirsch’s, Hollywoodbets, Imperial Truck Rental, Interflora, Lebombo Bananas, Nashua, Neopak, Netcare 911, Patensie Oranges, Racefood, Road Traffic Infringement Agency, SAB, TNT Express, Transact, Tsogo Sun as well as the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Arts, Culture, Sports & Recreation, the provincial and national athletics federations, KwaZulu-Natal Athletics and Athletics South Africa and the host cities of Pietermaritzburg and Durban.
