The Comrades Marathon Association is proud to announce that it will be offering a facility to support the participation of financially disadvantaged runners during the 2024 Comrades Marathon. Thanks to CMA partner, Government Employee Medical Scheme (GEMS), runners will be provided with safe sleeping quarters, a comfortable mattress and blanket; and a good dinner on race day eve, tea/ coffee on race morning and supper on the night of the Comrades Marathon. Runners will be accommodated at the YMCA in Alan Paton Road behind the Sasol Filling Station.
However, due to overwhelming demand, runners are urged to apply early, as this offer is being made to all runners throughout South Africa and space is limited! The GEMS Disadvantaged Runners Village will operate from 8 to 10 June, offering sleeping facilities on the eve of the race (08 June 2024) and the night of the race (09 June 2024), as well as carbo-meals, energy drinks as well as transportation.
Please note that the initial transportation from your residence to either Durban or Pietermaritzburg and back to your place of residence will be for your own expense. In order for us to make plan adequately, we require that you fill in and email the form below, by no later than 17 May 2024. Please note that to qualify for the programme you must be unemployed or earn less than R6000 a month. Please send us a copy of your salary slip or an affidavit declaring your unemployment or earnings.
Once again, we look forward to providing support to the financially disadvantaged runners this year and look forward to hosting you over #Comrades2024 race weekend.
