Athletes enjoyed a great day of road running as the Edendale community and the nation’s top short distance and recreational runners converged on the FNB Wadley Stadium in Georgetown for the eleventh edition of the ever-popular Greater Edendale 10km race.
The race is a corporate social investment initiative of the Comrades Marathon Association (CMA) which hosts the annual event in conjunction with the Msunduzi Municipality and the Msunduzi-Pietermaritzburg Tourism Association.
The much-loved annual event saw an amazing turnout by the community, in terms of participation and support, with over a thousand participants. Prize money to the tune of R21,000 was presented to the winners in various categories; as well as additional lucky draw prizes.
Sipho Mbanjwa took the first prize of R3,000 for the First Man and Jenet Mbhele claimed the same amount for First Woman position.
