COMRADES GIVES BACK!

Uplifting and empowering communities along the Comrades Marathon route has been part of the CMA’s strategic focus, with various upskilling initiatives and charitable endeavours over the years.

CMA Chairperson, Cheryl Winn, handed over computer hardware to learners and educators at Imbaliyezwe Primary School in Fredville, Inchanga last week. Owing to the positive relationship and traditional support which exists between the Comrades Marathon and the local community at Inchanga, the school was identified as a worthy beneficiary of the CMA’s corporate social investment (CSI) initiatives as one small way in which CMA can demonstrate its appreciation.

Members of the CMA’s CSI Committee were warmly welcomed by the school as the handover of five brand new personal computers took place. The computer hardware will be installed in the school’s media centre, which is currently being developed.

CMA CSI Convenor, Pat Freeman says, “We at the Comrades Marathon Association understand that we live in the digital era and that having access to computers, acquiring computer skills and being computer literate is an important part of equipping our youth with the skills they will need to succeed.”

CMA General Manager, Keletso Totlhanyo says, “The CMA has always centred itself on serving our community, whether it’s assisting our runners to be part of The Ultimate Human Race; or adding value to those communities with whom we share the route. It is our intention that we have a lasting positive impact on our society.”
