Like Nyambeni, many committed charity runners are running for a purpose. The Comrades Marathon Association has established an easy and efficient means for runners to have an even greater impact. With lots of heart from dedicated runners, the Amabeadibeadi Comrades Charity Drive has managed to raise R71-million since 1996 and was just shy of R5-million in 2023 for the official CMA Charities.
Hillcrest AIDS Centre Trust (HACT) is one of these charities and is calling on its local community to SUPPORT and HELP!
HACT has been a CMA official charity since 2017 and funds raised have literally helped to keep its Othandweni (Place of Love in isiZulu) 24-bed Hospice & Palliative Care In-Patient Unit open.
This dedicated health Unit, situated in Hillcrest, provides round the clock nursing care for adults and children with advanced stages of cancer and/or AIDS. In a tight economic climate of reduced funding and with other hospices closing, HACT’s Comrades campaign has literally kept its doors and services open and available to those most vulnerable.

- Select HACT as your chosen charity on your Comrades 2024 profile (it’s free)
- You will receive an official Easyreg link to start your campaign
- You will be contacted by HACT via email to join the HACTs #RUN4HACT community tribe
- There is NO minimum amount required (every cent counts!)
- Raise R1000 and you get a Free Limited-edition Shirt and Goodie bag
- C Batch seeding (As an added benefit) – if you need a little extra help to get over that start line earlier on race day, the first 500 athletes to raise R6000 or more get seeded into C-batch
